About Taisha and Laughing Hawk - Lost Tribe
We were just a bunch of anthropology graduate students getting together to jam in the late 90s, usually three, somtimes five or six. The core group being Rene Villanowith (Mexican-American), Mel Brewster (Paiute (Numu) - Metis), and Geoffrey Hamilton (Eli-Naphtali Steiner), Hebrew/Scottish American
Doc Mel and Geoff are the heart of the Lost Tribe (LT). The Band is fluid, being that Doc Mel and Geoff maintain its heart, while some members are intermittent and sometimes ebb and flow.

`Hey All, just wanted to thank all of you who have come to visit the band site and our profile. We had 350 plays yesterday and we are up to 8,000 plays. Wow! We just might make it, but if we do not, we love the music anyway. Also, we have met some dear people here and we want to thank you for being our friends and supporting the band. Nu-Numu-Ebeedua,

`Hi People,
Again, thanks so much for visiting OUR site, that is, Geoff and I (Doc Mel). We have met some wonderful People here.
A little about us,
Doc Mel (Big guy with guitar (lol), is a Ph.D. in anthropology and specializes in Native Heritage Preservation. It is a tough field, that is, there is a spiritual component to do this sort of work, that WE can only learn from respected traditional ghealers. Otherwise, it is easy to get spiritually pollutted, yet, in order to protect the ancestors we need Native scientists.
Geoff, he has his Masters in Ethnomusicology, his thesis work focused on a little known, almost forgotten tribe along the Coast in Oregon. Geoff has assited local Tribes in regaining some of their songs. Also Geoff has a degree in music, a wonderful musician he is, while I am a jungle anything goes musician. Our songs always have posotive themes and good meanings to them. We do infuse Native style and so forth as music intertwines, but we do our best not to use OUR Indianess to sell who we are or our music.
We sing traditional songs of course, but we sing them in ceremony and not for profit and we do n0ot sing them our of context.
Our other friend who sits in with us and does some music with us is Mel Brown (Awsome artist and single, wish he could find a companion - hint hint), the man with glasses and the acoustic guitar. If it were not for Mel Brown, many of the musicians in our area, of various ethnicities would neber had made it in music. Some have gone quite far, but nonetheless, one day one of uis may make it to the top.
We are thinking of doing a tour this coming summer of 1009 and an official album will be out in early January 09/ We do have some good music up at our band site, which you can find below, the link to where you can hear us. : )
One big thing we noticed on NA PAssions is there are many really good people, the problem, however, is distance. As I mentioned to some others here recently, Natives like to stay within their homeland (region) wether we are traditional or not. We have a tie to Grandmother, and it is almost as if we grow roots and although they cannot be observed by all, we nonetheless are part of the soil and all that is around us. We walk in the prayers and dust and bones of our ancestors.
Anyhow, back to the music, again thanks for visiting us and being OUR friends and bless Creator and may he bless all of you in a good way!
Otherwise, we are sing, heterosexual men, and would not be here if we were not. Finding a Native woman who is good hearted and shares a mutual attraction is hard to find. specially when (locally) we are related. I have made some friends and write at times, and who knows, my biggest problem is distance and the tie to the region where I live.
